2007 Valor Awards are presented amid end-of-year festivities

Los Angeles, CA – The Latin American Agents Association officially kicked off its month-long holiday celebration in grand style on Saturday, December 10th among 300 or so of its closest friends and colleagues. The 2007 Holiday Gala and Valor Awards brought together the best and brightest in the insurance industry for an evening of great food and drinks, stellar entertainment, and honoring a select few insurance professionals with a well-deserved pat on the back. There was even a visit and photo-op with Santa Claus himself!

“The LAAA is pleased to be among a handful of groups that offer these sort of accolades to the ‘unsung heroes’ of our industry, those men and women who help front-line producers achieve success without any thoughts of reward or recognition,” said LAAA Founder & CEO Andre Urena. “They believe in what they are doing and very often don’t realize the impact they have on our businesses. The Valor Awards are simply our way of saying thanks for a job well done.”

With the awards presented jointly by LAAA President Gustavo Contreras and LAAA Vice President Miguel Rodriguez, the following individuals and companies were honored:

Market of the Year (Auto): Safeco Insurance
Market of the Year (Commercial): Unitrin Specialty Insurance
Market of the Year (Health): Kaiser Permanente
Market of the Year (Life):   Allianz Life
Market of the Year (Mexico Insurance): International Gateway Insurance Brokers
Vendor of the Year:   EZ Buy
Agency of the Year:   Fiesta Auto
Marketing Representative of the Year:
Tyler Nicholson (FSC Insurance Solutions)
Insurance Person of the Year: Marc Sobel (Unitrin Specialty)
Community Advocates of the Year: Deane Silke (Fiesta Auto)
Miguel Rodriguez (Wizard Insurance)
Vanguard Award: Larry Powers

While the other awards are self-explanatory, the Vanguard Award is presented to an individual who best exemplifies the philosophy of the association – community service, producer advocacy, and tireless dedication to the insurance industry.

“The Valor Awards have been a mainstay of the LAAA practically since our beginning. A few years ago, we decided to add the Vanguard Award to honor an individual who transcends any other category,” explained Contreras. “This year, Larry Powers easily earned this recognition for his support of the LAAA and producers in general. Of course, we are proud to publicly acknowledge all of our Valor Award recipients for their dedication and service to the insurance industry.”

With the final event of the year now in the history books, the LAAA is now looking forward to its 9th Annual Convention, to be held June 4-8 in Long Beach, California. For more information, contact the LAAA at (626) 444-0999 or e-mail to info@latinagents.com.
